A message in French
Tiphaine and Paul found me on Instagram and wrote to me in French. They were on holiday in Tenerife in February, they were expecting their first baby, and they wanted their couple photos “dans un endroit typique”, somewhere that could only be Tenerife. They were honest from the first line: they spoke little English and no Spanish, but they loved my photos.
French is one of the languages I speak, so the whole session happened in French. No translations, no hesitation: just the three of us, the sea and the first light.
Why a cliff on the south coast
For a typical place, I chose one of my favourite spots: a breathtaking cliff on the south coast, where layers of yellow and ochre volcanic rock meet the Atlantic. It is also one of the locations people love most on my Instagram.
At sunrise the sun comes up over the sea, the rock turns gold and the air still smells of salt. You can find more ideas in my guide to photoshoot locations in Tenerife.
From first light to golden rock
We met few minutes before sunrise. The sky was clear and it was already about 20 degrees.
The first light
We started together at a panoramic point above the water. The sun rose right between them, and for a few minutes the light was so low and warm that it seemed to touch only the two of them. Paul’s hands kept going back to the bump, and Tiphaine couldn’t stop smiling.
Tiphaine on her own
Then a few portraits just for her. In her ivory dress, open on the bump, she stood on the dark rock with the sea behind her, the wind lifting her hair. Morning light, salt in the air, one hand on her belly: nothing else was needed.
A dress the colour of the rock
For the second part we moved closer to the cliff and Tiphaine changed outfit. Her fitted orange and red dress had almost the same colours as the layers of rock around her. In the shallow pools at the foot of the cliff, every gesture had its own reflection.
Just the two of them
We ended with the two of them sitting on the rock, Paul holding Tiphaine and the bump in the warm light. Romantic, bright, natural: exactly the morning they had imagined when they first wrote to me.
What Tiphaine and Paul wore
Tiphaine chose and brought both outfits herself. The first was a minimal ivory dress with long sleeves that left the bump bare; the second, a fitted dress in warm orange and red that echoed the rock. Paul matched the first look in light linen. Her harmony ball necklace rested on the bump all morning. If you are not sure what to bring, read my tips on what to wear for your shoot.
Planning a sunrise maternity photoshoot in Tenerife
- When in your pregnancy: Tiphaine was seven months pregnant, when the bump shows beautifully and moving is still comfortable.
- Wake-up time: at sunrise in Tenerife it is never too early. Depending on the season, the sun rises between about 7:00 and 8:00 (in February, around 7:45), and we meet a few minutes before.
- Duration: Tiphaine and Paul chose my one-hour session: 25 edited photos plus the full gallery of around 200 images.
- Shoes: wear comfortable shoes to walk on the rocks. For the photos you can stay barefoot and still.
- Rocky locations: perfect for calm, intimate poses. If you dream of running and dancing, a sandy beach is a better choice.
- Language: I photograph in French, English, Spanish and Italian.
- Delivery: your edited gallery arrives within 7–10 working days.
You can find every option in my maternity packages and prices.
If you are expecting and dreaming of a maternity photosession in Tenerife, write to me or send me a message on WhatsApp, in English or en français: I would love to hear your story.

FAQ
Can I book a maternity photoshoot in Tenerife in French?
Yes. I speak French, English, Spanish and Italian, so we can plan and shoot the whole session in your language. Tiphaine and Paul’s session was entirely in French.
Sunrise or sunset for a maternity photoshoot in Tenerife?
Both give soft, golden light. Sunrise means quieter locations and fresher air; we meet a few minutes before the sun comes up, between about 7:00 and 8:00 depending on the season.
Can I change outfit during the session?
Yes. Tiphaine brought two outfits, and we changed between the two parts of the session, moving closer to the rocks for the second look.
